The Bikers’ Days Endurance Team has taken a good start at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The riders were very satisfied after the two qualification sessions. After the 1st session, the average lap time of the trio was 1.42,012, which is good for a seventeenth place in general and a 3rd place in their category: Superstock. This was definitely an unexpected debut for the Bikers’ Days Endurance Team.
Despite the short preparation time, team coordinator Olivier Aerts was very pleased with the results of Fastré, Bouan and Schouten. “Our riders managed to ride at a constant pace with the Yamaha. The collaboration in the team runs also very smoothly and all this combined makes that I have a very positive feeling about tomorrow’s race”.
´Bikers‘ Days Team will start from the 28th position tomorrow at 15h00 (twelfth in the Superstock category). In the second qualification session the set-up of the Yamaha YZF-R1 was further improved but unfortunately it didn’t result in better lap times due to the weather conditions which were not as good as the day before. “We expect the race of tomorrow to be an exiting one in the Superstock category, but we do hope to achieve on of the top positions.” ”The good collaboration of the team, the good night practice and the motivation I see in the eyes of the riders have left me with a very good feeling. It’s definitely possible for us to get a good result in our first race.”
Raymond Schouten: “It’s my second endurance race and I have to admit it’s different than what I’m used to. But I’m very pleased about the way things are going, although I would have preferred better lap times. Despite the fact that it’s a new team, everything runs very smooth. Everyone gets along and that’s very important, ‘cause an endurance race is teamwork. The Yamaha R1 is good and we’ve found a setting that suits Gregory, Denis and myself. The three of us ride at a very constant pace and that’s necessary. I’m really looking forward to the race and I honestly think we are a good competitor in the Superstock category.”
