Despite the fact that they had to abandon the race on Sunday night at 02h38, there’s no real feeling of deception among the Bikers’Days Endurance Team. Quite the contrary even, they’re more convinced than ever that they’ll finish on podium very soon.
Grégory Fastré (BE) started with the Yamaha Nr 199 from the 28th position and managed very quickly to get into the top 20. Then the Yamaha was on a 15th general place for several laps. The three riders Greg Fastré (BE), Raymond Schouten (NL) and Denis Bouan (FR), rode very similar lap times.
A spectacular crash from the French rider Dennis Bouan (without consequences) could have put an end to the Le Mans adventure of the Bikers’Days Endurance Team, but that was without counting on the strong character of the rider who, without hesitating, put the Yamaha back on track and continued the race.
Due to engine overheating problems that were already present at the beginning of the race but only got worse as the hours went by, the team unfortunately had to throw the towel in the ring. There was no other choice, it was either quitting or exploding …
But what an experience, what fun and what a positive result!!!
The entire team worked together impeccably, with an enviable team spirit. All ingredients for success are present: good riders, a confident manager, an efficient team of mechanics, a dynamical and convivial staff…
Pay-back time in August at the 6 Hours of Spa!
